Periodontal Therapy

Periodontal Therapy

Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in the United States. Experts even so go far as to estimate that three out of every four American adults suffer from some form of gum disease. Apart from tooth loss, gum diseases can also contribute to the development of other medical illnesses such as heart disease or diabetes.

Gum Disease Symptoms

More often than not, gum disease catches people by surprise. Fortunately, gum disease isn’t an “out of nowhere” disease. Schedule an appointment for periodontal therapy if you notice any of the following symptoms:

  • Red, swollen, or sore gums
  • Bleeding gums when brushing or flossing
  • Receding gums
  • Loose teeth
  • Mouth sores or pus between gums and teeth
  • Bad breath (halitosis)
  • Changes in the fit of dentures

Addressing the Aftermath

If you’ve lost a tooth or two due to gum disease, do not let it get to you. We offer many options to help replace missing teeth, including dental implants. Speak to a member of our team to learn more about our cosmetic dentistry services. In the event that your smile has become “gummy” due to all the swelling, we offer esthetic gum lifts to patients. Our dentist will carefully remove excess tissue using a dental laser, exposing more of your teeth. Patients who have undergone our esthetic gum lift service often report virtually no discomfort and are often ecstatic with the results. For any questions you may have about our periodontal therapy services, patients may call us at (404) 477-3060.
